Giuseppe Cesari, conhecido como Cavalier d’Arpino, pintou este afresco em 1596. Ele retrata a lendária descoberta de Rômulo e Remo pelo pastor Faustulus. A loba, simbolizando o poder nutridor da natureza, amamenta os gêmeos, figura central do mito de fundação de Roma. O cenário pastoral evoca o campo em torno da Roma antiga, reforçando a ressonância mítica da cena.
