Weighing over 47 kg, this richly decorated armour (1628) was likely worn by Cardinal Richelieu while inspecting royal military positions during the siege of La Rochelle. The monogram linking R, P, and A, and the trident of Neptune, symbolise Richelieu’s identity and authority over naval affairs.
