Patron Inscription of the Sculle Family

252
This painted panel (15th c.) in the Hôtel-Dieu bears the name Sculle, honoring a benefactor family of the hospice. Golden birds perched on branching antlers and small stars surround the inscription on a red ground, forming a heraldic ensemble. Such decoration linked charitable giving to social prestige, ensuring donors’ memory endured within the hospital’s sacred and civic space.
