This portrait (1445–50), part of the Beaune Altarpiece, shows Guigone de Salins, wife of Chancellor Nicolas Rolin, co-founders of the Hospices de Beaune. Depicted in prayer, she wears a distinctive headdress marking her status. Her inclusion affirms the couple’s piety and civic role, embedding their legacy within the sacred drama of the Last Judgment.
