The Madrid Codex, or Tro-Cortesianus Codex, is a rare Maya manuscript from the Postclassic period (c. 900–1521 AD), likely from Tayasal. Made from bark paper and folded like a screen, it contains intricate hieroglyphs, astronomical tables, and horoscopes for divination. Initially divided into Troano and Cortesianus sections, it was reunited in 1888. The codex provides insights into Maya culture, beliefs, and practices, showcasing their sophisticated understanding of astronomy and divination.
