ヴェルサイユ宮殿のこの部屋は、赤いダマスク織と金色の装飾に囲まれ、王の威厳を体現している。暖炉の上にはイアサント・リゴーが1730年代に描いたルイ15世の肖像画が掛けられ、ブルボン家の威光を太陽王の遺産と結びつけている。国王の寝台とともに、芸術と儀礼を融合させて王朝の連続性を示していた。
