Early Nasca Shell Offerings
In the Pampa Galeras National Reserve, Ayacucho, early Nasca culture (c. 200–600 AD) used mollusk shells, known as valvas de choros, as offerings. Found at the ceremonial site of Cahuachi, these shells were central to rituals, symbolizing fertility and abundance. This practice highlights the Nasca’s deep connection to their environment and belief in the spiritual power of natural elements.
