Enthroned Trinity

This painting (1720–1740) from the Cuzco School depicts the Holy Trinity—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit—as identical figures, known as the ’Anthropomorphic Trinity.’ While this representation was outdated in Europe, it was popular in the Viceroyalty of Peru. The work exemplifies the blend of European and indigenous influences in colonial Peruvian art, highlighting the region’s unique religious expression.
