Main Altar and Nave

This dazzling 18th c. baroque ensemble fuses sculpture, painting, and architecture into a vision of heavenly splendor. The golden retablo, coffered vaults, and richly carved arches overwhelm the senses to inspire awe. At its core stands the Virgin, above St Francis, surrounded by saints and angels—manifesting the glory of divine order in the New World.
