Esta imponente escultura de San Cristóbal (principios del siglo XVI) llevando al Niño Jesús sobre el agua está vinculada a la leyenda fundacional de Riga. Según el folclore, el gigante barquero llevó una vez a un niño misterioso a través del río Daugava. A la mañana siguiente, encontró oro donde el niño había dormido, que se utilizó para construir Riga.
