Selenite Gypsum Crystal Formation
Selenite is a variety of gypsum, a hydrated calcium sulfate mineral (CaSO₄·2H₂O) formed by seawater evaporation in sedimentary rock layers. It is often transparent or translucent with bladed crystal shapes, sometimes tinted by impurities. Gypsum is crucial in plaster, drywall, and building materials, and is used as a soil amendment in agriculture. It also has applications in food, medicine, and industry.
