Sanctuary of Nuestra Señora del Patrocinio

Rising on Cerro de la Bufa above Zacatecas, the Sanctuary of Nuestra Señora del Patrocinio crowns the city’s most charged lookout with a Marian devotion that became civic identity. The heart of the church is an 18th c image of the Virgin, invoked for protection and remedies in a hard mining landscape, set in a gilded Baroque altar that turns local history into prayer.
