This Quimbaya culture hammered gold disc, etched with a stylized human face (500–1200 AD), was used as a breastplate or funerary offering, the smiling visage symbolizes spiritual presence or protection. Such discs reflect the importance of personal adornment and ancestral veneration in pre-Hispanic ritual practice.
