Muisca Ritual Crown with Dangles
This gold crown (1000–1500) forms a circular band edged with small spikes and a ring of suspended human figures above leaf-shaped dangles. Muisca goldworkers used hammered and cast gold to create such pieces of elite regalia. Its shifting reflections in ritual movement identified the wearer as a spiritual leader, linking gold’s brilliance to sacred power and communal authority.
