Prospettiva Wall, Parco dei Daini
The sculpted wall in Villa Borghese’s Parco dei Daini (c.1610–20) forms a theatrical prospettiva, an architectural illusion of depth. Classical reliefs and a Roman officer enliven this boundary, which once framed vistas toward the Barco, the vast hunting park of the Borghese estate (now the Bioparco zoo). Its fusion of illusion and antiquity embodies the Baroque fascination with perspective and the grandeur of Rome’s landscape ideals.
