Temple of Aesculapius

This lakeside temple (1786–92) honors Aesculapius, the Greco-Roman god of healing. Its classical architecture and Greek dedication, To Aesculapius the Savior, echo ancient sanctuaries. The statue inside, recovered from the Mausoleum of Augustus, links Rome's historical grandeur to Enlightenment ideals, demonstrating a blend of reverence and cultural continuity.
