Annunciation (detail)Bonanno Pisano

93
This bronze panel (c. 1180) is part of the Porta di San Ranieri, once on the south transept of Pisa Cathedral. Depicting the Annunciation with Gabriel and the Virgin Mary, it reflects Romanesque clarity and solemnity. As the only door to survive the 1595 fire, it holds deep historical and devotional significance.
