Château Square lies at the seam of Strasbourg’s spiritual and political power, opening between the cathedral’s 12th–15th c. mass and the 18th c. Palais Rohan, former seat of the city’s prince-bishops. More than a picturesque gap in the old town, it has long served as a working stage for markets, processions, and the everyday negotiation between church, court, and citizens. Half-timbered façades and the cathedral spire still set its scale and sense of memory.
