Alexander Sarcophagus with Battle Scenes
The Alexander Sarcophagus, made from Pentelic marble in the late 4th century BC, was found in Sidon, Lebanon. It features detailed bas-reliefs of Alexander the Great in battle and hunting scenes, showcasing Hellenistic artistry. Initially thought to be Alexander’s tomb, it is now believed to belong to Abdalonymus, King of Sidon. Discovered in 1887, it symbolizes the fusion of Greek and Eastern influences.
