Feathered Serpent Stairway Sculptures

These projecting heads (c. 250 AD) line the sloped façade of the Temple of the Feathered Serpent in Teotihuacán. Emerging in rhythmic succession, each serpent evokes divine breath, motion, and cosmic ascent. Their repetition reinforces the temple’s role as a sacred axis connecting earth, sky, and ancestral power.
