This grand canvas (1615) celebrates the Franciscan Third Order, highlighting saints and monarchs like St Louis of France and St Elizabeth of Hungary. All faces are rendered alike, echoing the order’s radical message of equality before God. Above, the Trinity holds the Franciscan cord, sanctifying a brotherhood without rank or title.
