Ancient Roman Theatre, Carthage
Built in the 2nd c. AD, the Roman theatre of Carthage could seat more than 5,000 spectators for plays, music, and oratory. Its semicircular tiers and excellent acoustics embody Roman architectural mastery. Restored in modern times, it remains a symbol of Carthage’s cultural integration into the Roman Empire. Here, Irma stands proudly at the top of the steps.
