Rembrandt’s 1634 portrait of Oopjen Coppit commemorates her marriage to Maerten Soolmans. This Baroque work is one of Rembrandt’s rare life-size pendant pairs. Oopjen is depicted in a luxurious black silk gown with a lace collar, cuffs, and pearls. Acquired jointly by the Louvre and Rijksmuseum in 2015, these portraits exemplify Rembrandt’s ability to capture both opulence and intimacy.
