Einar Jónsson’s sculpture, created in 1939–1940, depicts the Norse god Thor wrestling with the personification of old age. Jónsson (1874–1954), Iceland’s first sculptor, often infused his work with mythological and symbolic themes. This piece reflects the eternal struggle against time.
