Column of the Temple of GloryClaude Michallon
This monumental column (early 19th c.) rises in a richly decorated interior, its shaft banded in blue and covered with gilded reliefs. Created in the Empire style, it uses neoclassical forms and martial imagery to honor Napoleonic victories. The Corinthian capital and the figure of Victory at the top articulate a program of imperial glory and state propaganda.
