Notre-Dame Bridge is a 14th-c. stone crossing over the Nive that once controlled access to the walled town of Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port, where river, road, and fortification meet. Long linked to the Camino de Santiago, the bridge marked a threshold for pilgrims entering the Basque streets and preparing for the Pyrenean passage ahead. Framed by timbered houses and mirrored in the water, its single arch still reads as a quiet emblem of passage, return, and continuity.
