Former Episcopal Palace
Former Episcopal Palace stands beside St Vincent Cathedral, recalling when Chalon-sur-Saône was shaped as much by its bishops as by the river trade on the Saône. Built on a medieval core and later given restrained 17th–18th cc façades, it traces the shift from fortified authority to comfortable clerical residence. After the French Revolution stripped the Church of its seigneurial role, the palace passed into civic use, its rooms repurposed for the city’s public life and memory.
