Quipus of Puruchuco

In 1956, quipus were found in a pot at Puruchuco, covered with a gourd. Archaeologists Gary Urton and Carrie Brezine determined these quipus functioned as an inventory system, tracking production and workers’ tasks. This discovery underscores the Inca civilization’s advanced record-keeping and administrative skills.
