Diquís Pendant of Eagle with Crocodile-Head Adornments
This gold pendant (1000–1550) from Costa Rica’s South Pacific shows an eagle with spread wings and sharp talons. Atop its head rises a crocodile head, while two more emerge symmetrically from the sides, forming a composite headdress. This fusion of predator traits symbolizes shamanic power over sky, water, and earth.
