Diquís Double-Headed Crocodile Pendant
This gold pendant (700–1550 AD) from southern Costa Rica depicts a fantastical crocodile with two heads and spiraling dorsal ridges. Its twin mouths and flared claws amplify its supernatural presence. In Diquís cosmology, such hybrid creatures embodied transformation, protection, and shamanic passage between natural and spiritual worlds.
