This 1975 copy by Antonio Palomino Tobar replicates the 1838 original by Pedro José Figueroa. It depicts Antonio Nariño before his death in Villa de Leyva (1823), holding a pocket watch to cue psalm singers. Known as the Precursor , Nariño was a key early leader in Colombia’s independence movement, famed for translating and publishing the Declaration of the Rights of Man .
