1782
Frederic Marès Museum, tucked into a wing of the medieval Palau Reial Major beside Barcelona Cathedral, grew from sculptor Frederic Marès’s 1946 gift of his lifelong collections to the city. Its core of Romanesque–Baroque sculpture and devotional fragments traces how faith was carved into public life, while the crowded cabinets of 19th–early 20th c. fans, toys, pipes, and keepsakes turn private habits into history, revealing Barcelona’s past through what people touched and treasured.
