713
Maritime Museum of Barcelona occupies the vast Gothic halls of the Royal Shipyards (Drassanes Reials), built in the 13th–14th cc. to serve the Crown of Aragon’s Mediterranean power. The architecture is the museum’s first exhibit: a civic workshop on the old city wall where galleys once took shape. Its collections trace how Barcelona’s identity and wealth were made at sea, through trade, navigation, and the skilled labor of shipwrights.
