Grenoble and the Bastille Cable Car
This view shows Grenoble along the Isère River, with the Belledonne Alps in the background. The spherical Bastille cable cars (1976), among the first of their kind, link the city center to the fortress above. At right rises the Collegiate Church of Saint-André (1228), symbol of Dauphin authority. Together they reveal Grenoble’s blend of medieval legacy and modern innovation.
