Napoleon's Throne Room

This throne room (c. 1808), arranged in the Empire style, affirms Napoleon’s authority through imperial symbols—golden eagles, laurel wreaths, and deep blue drapery recalling Roman power. The throne itself projects majesty despite Napoleon’s modest stature, around average for his era. At Fontainebleau, this space fused political theater with the emperor’s enduring myth.
