Napoleon's Bedroom

234
This room (early 19th c.) at Fontainebleau was arranged for Napoleon I in full Empire style, marked by symmetry, bold colors, and gilded neoclassical motifs. The green and gold canopy bed, crowned with laurel and wheat, embodies victory and abundance. Bronze-mounted furniture completes the ensemble, turning the chamber into a display of Napoleonic authority and the aesthetic of his reign.
