Clock Tower of Amboise
The Clock Tower of Amboise is a 15th c. gateway tower that once guarded the approaches to the old town, when walls and watchtowers defined civic security. Later fitted with a public clock, it shifted from fortification to civic instrument, helping regulate markets, work, and communal order. Its austere stone façade, opening onto a busy street, still marks a threshold where medieval defense gives way to the daily rhythms of Amboise.
