Verina
This mosaic (4th c.) shows Verina, the personification of Summer. She is holding a sickle and a sheaf of wheat, clear symbols of harvest and agricultural abundance. Framed within a panel, she belongs to a larger decorative program in a church floor. Such seasonal figures in Byzantine art linked the liturgical year to the natural cycle, suggesting divine order within everyday rural life.
