Iron Strongbox with Locking Mechanism
This iron strongbox (16th–17th cc.) shows a heavy lid, riveted plates, and large exterior hasps. Inside, a concealed multi-bolt lock secured coin, documents, and jewels for transport and storage. Such chests served colonial administrations and merchants, demonstrating how mechanical security supported expanding imperial finance.
