Keur Moussa Monastery, founded in 1961 on the savanna east of Dakar, is a Benedictine community where Gregorian chant is carried by West African rhythm and the kora. The monastery’s significance rests on inculturation : a European monastic rule translated into Senegalese sound and daily life without losing its contemplative core.
