Luxor

Luxor rises on the Nile over ancient Thebes, capital of Egypt’s New Kingdom (1550–1070 BC) and the cult center of Amun, where kingship was measured against Ma’at , the balance of the cosmos. On the East Bank, Karnak and Luxor Temple formed a processional axis for festival rites and coronations; across the river, the Valleys of the Kings and Queens hide desert tombs built for eternity in paint and stone. Few places so directly braid everyday city life with monumental deep time.
