Coins of the Archbishopric of Riga
These coins (13-16th cc.), issued by the archbishops of Riga, reflect the ecclesiastical power’s right to mint currency. Designs feature Christian symbols and coats of arms. They circulated widely in Livonia and symbolized the merging of religious and economic authority in medieval Riga.
