Medieval Styli for Wax Tablets
These bone, bronze, and iron styli (писала) (13-15th cc.) were used by scribes to write on wax tablets, as seen in the illustration above. Such tools were crucial for clerical, legal, and educational work in medieval Riga. Their shapes reflect both function and evolving craftsmanship.
