Marble Entrance to Reception Room

This marble-clad threshold (4th c. AD) from the Domus di Amore e Psiche leads into the richly decorated reception space. The use of fine white and colored marbles emphasized the transition into a luxurious domestic setting, where wealth, refinement, and social prestige were visually affirmed at every step.
