Path to the Citadel
A cobbled path climbs through fortified walls toward the citadel, framing the valley and Pyrenees beyond. Built in the 17th c. by Vauban, the stronghold secured this frontier town while overseeing pilgrim traffic into Spain. The view from shadow to light mirrors the Camino itself, where hardship yields to vistas of promise and renewal.
