St Nicholas Church
St Nicholas Church rises above Blois as the former abbey church of a Benedictine monastery, built mainly in the 12th–13th cc. Its clustered chapels, steep slate roofs, and sharp Gothic spires read like stone and timber folded into the hillside, a spiritual counterweight to the nearby royal château. Scarred by war and fire yet repeatedly restored, the church has long linked prayer, memory, and civic identity in this Loire Valley city.
