Maitum Anthropomorphic Burial Jar
This earthenware jar (190 BC–500 AD) from Ayub Cave, Maitum, Sarangani Province, is a rare example of anthropomorphic pottery unique to the Philippines. It features human-like figures with expressive faces and was used for secondary burials, containing remains and grave goods. Likely Jar 21, it measures 36.8 cm and reflects early Filipinos’ beliefs about the afterlife.
