Ritually Sacrificed Warriors' Skulls

These skulls (15th–16th cc.) belonged to warriors ritually sacrificed at the Templo Mayor. Victorious in battle, they were bound to the Temalacatl—a circular stone—and forced to fight elite Mexica soldiers. Upon defeat, their hearts were offered to the gods. Adornments in the eyes symbolize honor, valor, and sacred transformation, reflecting the Mexica belief in the warrior's spiritual journey and their role in sustaining cosmic order through sacrifice.
