This life-sized model represents a 16th-c. Diquís warrior adorned with gold jewelry, including a large pectoral, nose and ear ornaments, and cuffs. Gold was not currency but a sacred metal, signifying status and spiritual power. Such warriors symbolized strength, leadership, and divine connection in Costa Rican chiefdoms.
