Volcanic Tidal Pools
Ancient lava flows solidified into jagged basalt, now broken into ridges that trap seawater at low tide. These tidal pools shelter algae, mollusks, and small crustaceans in a fragile micro-ecosystem. The dark, wave-rounded stones set against pale, dry cliffs highlight the tension between ongoing marine erosion and the island’s volcanic past.
